I am proposing a "GIRLS ONLY" event. The men will need to stay with the children and chickens

Since this is your neck of the woods - - - Do you get any big chicken shows in your area ? ?

About what time of the year do they happen ? ?

Anyway you can find out what the rules are for your state for showing / transporting chickens ? ?

Math-I know we have had national shows in Hutchinson, KS. I did some showing years ago, but since getting involved with chickens again I have not yet been involved in showing. Since it is my intention to be able to do so, it would be a good thing for me to research. I do know the rosecomb breeders had their national meeting at one of our shows a few years back.

I will do some checking to see what I can learn. Does anyone have good contact numbers where I could start?

Here's a few pictures of my BCM. Most of them are really wild and I can't get any good pics. critique please!

I like Alfred. The only area of concern that I see is his tail angle is too high. He'd be a KEEPER for me.

I think Cleopatra has better form than Betsy. Who lays a darker egg ? ?

Your rooster crossed on hen number two may produce a longer backed rooster with a better tail angle... Overall those are a good group of birds... I like your rooster... Not too much hieght on the tail feathers

... I like the shape of hen number one over hen number two however the length of back and tail angle is better on the second hen...I also like the shank and toenail color of the second hen as well... You definetly have something worth keeping and working with.

Thanks for sharing.

I talked to a local breeder and he said to wait another year and see how Alfred really does. I can fix the high tail thru selective breeding. Betsy is at the lighter stages of here egg cycle, but her eggs at the beginning were really dark 8-9 only. Cleopatra just started laying and her eggs and are comparable to Betsy's first eggs. Cleo's eggs aren;t as big but I'm sure that'll change in a few weeks. Betsy's eggs are almost round!

The breeder is on task... that is what I would do.. I think you can simply use one of the hens right there!! Good egg color... enuff said!!!

The birds change more than most people realize.. Even from a year old to 2 year old the changes are really dramatic. I had a rooster with a nearly unacceptable amount of red in the breast as a juvenile molt and now in his second year he is black breasted.
