Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Greenfire farms is no longer carrying Bev's Marans. You'll see they dropped them on their site.

Paul (GFF) still has them, but he is not breeding them right now or for a while, but he is filling orders that were made before his decision to not breed the Marans while he works on his other very new imported breeds. Don't know if he will offer them in the future or not.
Davis birds can be a little harder to find but there are several of us out there that have closed Davis flocks or can have closed Davis flocks if need be and of course I can't name everyone off the top of my head right now, it's too early for that.

Thanks Pink, you're opinion means a lot and will seal their fate for sure.

Pinks, real quickly when you reference your GFF marans, what are you specifically referring to? I can take an educated guess, but would like to verify.

Thanks

rs~ Sorry about that, I know when I do that that some may not know and I always tell myself I'm going to go back and edit it for clarity and I don't get around to it.

Don ~ That pic with the white ear lobed hens appear to be Wellies, if I'm not mistaken, in the first pic?? The angle of the first pic makes the roo's legs look short, but I think it's the photo angle, look at the next, frontal pic of the roo. I sure wouldn't throw him to the coyotes! JMHO.

Debbi, I have welles, what you saying I can't tell the difference. You know that I like a higher station Marans and never a short leg Marans. Don

Rotti~

I agree with Don, but with that said..........before you take them to the sale, let me ask you a couple more things:

they all have dark eyes?

I know one of the hens has light legs, what color are the other hens legs?

do any of the hens have copper in their hackles?

and you do have Black Copper stock right?

and how old are they again?
