The Copper blue female, should be just like the black copper, with copper only on the hackle feathers. I'm not sure if there is a specific length of hackle feathers.
The tail feathers should all stop about at the same place, there should not be any "stragglers" hanging down. The tail is not supposed to be "long & flowing"

Sue~ Sorry I should have been more clear, I was referring to where the color in the hackle and front of neck should stop not the length of the hackle feathers.

In regards to the tail:
Is this considered too long?

I know she would.

The reason I ask is that just before his molt that he just finished, his tail was not this bushy and the feathers weren't this long.

Answering to pinkchick - Yes. Marans tails should be short and small.

Thank you Wynette. He will stay regardless of his long tail, but he really does support good overall balance as you suggested previously, it's just weird that now at the age of 1.5 they would suddenly get longer and the tail is more full. But then again they are a slower to mature breed and perhaps he was just taking his time. It's all about "himself" around here and the way he thinks he's king of everything, I'm sure this is just another one of his "all about me" and "made ya look" tactics. He's such a priss.

Pink, You may want to pose that question to Bev? I agree with you, some kind of length standard should be mentioned. That said, how many of that kind of tail do you see in the USA though??
If judges are used to seeing the longer tails, when they actually get to see a correct tail, they may fault it if nothing is mentioned about it in the SOP. Just saying...
