that top boy has exactly the same stink eye look I get from my black birchen. Makes me nervous sometimes...especially when he is following me and then all of a sudden slinks down low to the ground and 'stalks' me...that's when I know to watch close. That boy is a nice deep dark blue too...crazy

sounds like you have an extra hand keeping your dd in line with that copper one, eh? haha

just think tho...once yours mature some more you will have the makings of a nice flock and will have your incubators filled in no time! I like the way the dark feathers look on him...some of the splash birds that come out are more of a muddy bluish white...but he has nice patches of color. I would think he will be invaluable in a breeding program if you are looking to work with blues of any kind.

so really the only question is...do you have a big enough incubator and enough breeding pens so you are ready?

Very good idea...he really is a gorgeously marked bird. He would make a great start to a breeding pen and I'm sure if some of us knew where he was, you'd have a race on your hands to see who would find him first. LOL!!!

Nope.....can never have too many Splash. Splash to me is a very important universal tool when breeding for blues.

But.....I must admit, I have been eyeballing Birchens (Blue of course) for sometime now, along with Blue Silver Salmons and since the Silver Salmons are a ways from being ready to share (though Ms. Bev reports egg color is great!!!!

) so until I get my hands on the Silver Salmon's...I will be on the hunt for Blue Birchens.

My happily ever after story......will be me surrounded by Blue Copper Marans, Blue Birchen Marans and Blue Silver Salmon Marans. Oh Yea! Baby! That's my Blue Heaven!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with Gilavina......he is a beautifully marked bird! Just stunning!!!!! He makes me want them even worse than I already do!!!! If you don't get him back I think I may just cry.
