Ha! Be careful what you offer. I'm so nervous about the garden that most likely I will ask you questions since you offered.

Thank you. We are starting some things from seeds and some will be small plants we are buying from an Amish family that run a very nice nursery. We just need to hurry up and decide what we want to plant for sure. For sure we know we want a lot of greens.

About homeschooling, I think my kids already appreciate it. At least I hope they do. I try to make learning fun and interesting for them and I'm open to their input and ideas. I also try to have a lot of extra curricular activities for them so they don't feel left out and have lots of friends. My oldest actually decided to do her senior year in public school and now regrets it. She states the majority of the kids in her senior class do not take school seriously, which really urks her because she loves to learn. Something I try to instill in them from a very young age....the love of learning.

Yeah, depending the type of maple tree you collect from, it ranges between 20:1 and 40:1 with sugar maples having a higher sugar content compared to the silver maple like we have. But it's fun and when the sap runs it means spring is coming!

that sounds awesome...how much sap can you collect from one tree on average in a season? It makes me appreciate maple syrup that much more!

It's hard to say as our silver maple are either not in go shape or multiple trunks instead of a single tree.

Have you check out the Marans offical web site to see if they have anyone listed in the breeder's directory? Hopefully someone else have some names for you as I am new to Marans myself and my Cuckoo is hatchery and lays maybe a 4. Good Luck.

Day 22: Got up about 3:30 this morning, and one of the eggs was peeping!

I don't think the two pips were actully pips, they may have been calcium bumps? If they were pips, they haven't progressed. One egg is rocking this morning too, although I expect that it's the one that's peeping. C'mon chickies!!!!

Hahaha....I don't usually offer help unless I really do mean it

I've somehow found myself helping/mentoring new gardeners in the last couple years. I'm starting seeds for several gardens as well as my own...It's something I really enjoy!
I'll PM you my email address and feel free to ask anytime
