Morning EVERYONE!!!!!!! It looks like it's going to be a beautiful day!!!!! Finally some sun! Washington State can get pretty darn gray and dreary for several months....so a little cold and frosty and a clear blue sky this morning is WONDERFUL! Sorry I haven't been around much and I miss you all. Will try to catch up during the next few days as I can. Glad to have some work to keep my mind busy and on other things.
Oh...I think my little Baby Blue is getting ready to lay, she is getting a nice red comb and was in the nest box last night snooping around. She is just now 5 mos. old. Hopefully the Delawares will start laying soon too!
Mel~ My sister is very married............
but she is beautiful and she is my rock! So glad you got to meet her.
Raven~ Hens and Roos is right give them about 5-6 days or so before setting. Your boys are probably very anxious and excited to get down to business with the girls but just because they are doing business for a couple days doesn't mean that they have covered all the girls. If it were me I would crack a few sacrifical eggs just to be sure.
Tons of good luck with your eggs my friend and THANK YOU very much for being so patient over the last couple of weeks with me due to all the chaos in my life. You are AWESOME!

What I have ended up with in my chicken yard totals 27 birds. One RIR, 2 Wellies from Pinkchick, 4 hatchery Cuckoo Marans and the rest are an assortment of Blues, Blacks, and Splashes that I have been getting from Pinkchick since January. Oh...2 Olive Eggers too.
I'm thinking that by this fall I should have an interesting looking flock of birds. I will have to try to do a better job of posting pics as they mature.

Assuming all goes well, by the fall i should have a lovely mix of rose comb RIR, buff orpingtons, blue orpingtons, blue/splash marans and araucanas.... Fingers crossed I've got the araucanas in the growing in the incubator now, and hopefully the marans soon!
