no kidding! that transition last year fried quite a few of my cole crops. I was not too pleased about that. I am not giving up, it kind of actually makes me more stubborn and proactive about getting things done...haha... ( I blame it on the red hair)

That is what happened to us folks in Florida last year. . .. My garden wasn't worth a toot last year. . .
The two years before that - - - I gave lots of extra away, but NOT LAST YEAR!

It is looking real good this year. . . . Last year we had a late freeze 17 degrees in APRIL. It ruined all my crops. By end of May we were in the 90s. It was just horrid. The fall was just as bad this last year. . .

yeah...it was kind of the same thing here last year....we had so much rain and then cold snaps all during the spring, then all of a sudden I woke up one day and we had shot up into the 90's I had things bolting left and right...and all the rain came back after it had killed the cole crops and then drowned all my peppers...luckily my tomatoes did amazing...I waited til everything was over to plant them...

how soon can you guys get warm season crops out down there in FL? Are you able to garden year round? I am working on improving the place...it was overgrown and pretty neglected, but slowly am working my way towards a year round set up....one day at a time...bit by bit I'll get there

I'm glad you will be getting a refund tho. Is there someone else you can order from? I know of a place that has lavender ameracaunas...hopefully its not the same place you ordered from. If you want the name of the place, just PM me. I don't know how much they sell them for these days, but they are nice people to work with...I have some of their Lavender Silver Sussex eggs coming next week from them. I am so overly excited! My splurge from my tax return for myself.

I had ordered these way back in the fall. They are disbanding there Black Coppers so I had to get these shipped this month and not next month as I had initially planned. The pricing was 'special' and not exactly what they advertise so I am not sure if I should state it - I've never sold birds so I am unsure of the ethics that apply here. I did get a really good deal as my initial order had been for just 10 birds!!

They tossed in the Birchen to replace the Blue Coppers they were short on. Everybody made it safe and sound. Not having chicks shipped before I was very pleased with everything. I am so far exceedingly happy with my purchase.

OMG dh just suprised me and brought home 3 baby turkeys from the feed store. I've been wanting some for the longest time. He didn't even ask what kind they were though LOL. He also didn't get them any gamebird starter so now he's going back to the feedstore. I hope he remembers to ask what KIND they are this time. They are just a few days old and they are kinda mean to the 2-3 day old chicks I put them in with so I put them in with some older chicks and they were mean to them too! The little terds! I read on the turkey forum that I could keep them with chicks while they are little. Does any one here have turkeys, what do you do?
He also brought me 4 little easter egger chicks. I had 2 last year but one died of some illness and the other an owl got

So happy to have some more finally.

Hi Ivy! So sorry to hear about your lavender baby. Why o why is it always the good ones that something bad happens to?

Come to think of it, my ONLY lavender silkie died too!

There were 5 dead chicks in the shipment. I think they had gotten cold and had crowded each other for warmth. They all seemed somewhat stressed when they got here, but they settled down, and all looked okay. I couldn't believe it when I got home and the little lavender was dead. All the rest seem to be doing okay. It looks like a couple might be getting the start of a pasty butt, so I will be keeping an eye on their little bums.

Pics later if I have time. I just came in to grab a bite, get a drink, and then I will be back outside to work on dismantling the old barn in preparation for my new chicken barn.

Thats so sad! I hope the others continue to do better and get their pasty butts cleared up. I have bad luck with lavenders. My one lav silkie chick died and then I bought a lav orp roo from someone and on the way home noticed he had lice BAD and once I got him home noticed he was kinda wheezing in his chest and yawning/gasping alot. Sooo had to treat for lice and put him on antibiotics. Luckily he cleared right up on both counts.
