Hi Pink! Funny thing, when I picked this one egg out of the nest box, it was cold. That was on March 28, and I almost fed it to the dogs thinking it wouldn't hatch. But, it was a nice speckled egg, so I threw it in the bator. That was the first egg to hatch, and is the boggest chick! Go figure...and, it has major TUDE already!

Your babies are doing well outside, they have become ducks!

I found if I place their feeder inside their little coop, they know it's ok to go in there on their own. Guess they also figured out that it was DRY in there, so they go in and out all day.

Question: I had two eggs pip on day 20. The odd thing about these pips, were they went inward. Both were right in the middle of the round end of the egg, where most of my eggs pip to one side or the other, and the shell pops out. What's up with these two inward pips?? Neither one has hatched, rocked, or peeped, but there is no oozing either.

I hear ya on the rain debbi....its getting old. I'm wondering if spring will come any time soon? Today will be maintenance on the seedlings in the greenhouse just waiting to be planted outside.

Love the pic of the BBS Marans chicks posted earlier! Just never gets old seeing the blues.

The "pips" are more of an inward dent, like the egg I got from you that I taped. Quite odd, and they were not there when I put them in the bator. They are quite evident it is a pip, but inward? I'll try to get a pic without opening the bator. Here are my colorful BCM chicks that hatched. "Easter" is the big one on the far right.
