I have my permanent asparagus plot, garlic in, blueberries, marrionberries, raspberries and strawberries, that is it!!! The strawberries are blooming but look stunted................

Zanna, I am hoping the weather persons are WRONG WRONG WRONG and that we don't have another week of *showers* as they call them

I finally got the front yard *butchered* since the riding lawn mower would never get through that giant *elephant* grass that was thigh high! So had to hook up brush hog to tractor to *chunk down* the grass. Now I've got to hook up the tractor rake and try to rake all the stuff up

I was thinking of just starting the corn on the south facing deck in mini greenhouse type thing. But ground is still wet enough (after pouring showers yesterday!) to pull weeds out, lock, stock and barrel!

I do have clean looking chickens and turkeys though

I've been out in the garden working hard at making progress since its my day off. Ive got quite the list of seedlings that need to be planted, and seeds that need to be started outdoors. I'm determined I'm gonna get things in the ground in if it kills me. Its also doing a fabulous job keeping my mind off of the chicks in the incubator. I haven't done definite counts yet on how many chicks of each kind I have...but I know for sure I have taken 4 chicks from the Lavender Silver Sussex out and 7 Blue birchen marans out. I have quite a few still drying off in the incubator, so we'll see how it goes later today. I'm really hoping I will have quite a few more hatch from those shipped eggs.

Alright...back out to the sun! Yes sun! And little wind. Its been the first sincerely nice day in over a month.

I
was told I may do better here, so here goes...

I got this little beauty (hopefully a pullet...I was told it was a pullet) over the weekend. I was also told it was a Chocolate Splash Marans. I'm new to the chicken business and just want beauties to lay me eggs. I came home and looked up what this little lady would look like when she grew up to find that there is no such thing as a Chocolate Splash Marans (or at least that's not what its called). Does anyone have any idea what this little chick is or what it will look like when she grows up? The parents are a splash roo over a black copper hen. And if anyone can reassure me of the gender, that would be great too. Thanks for looking!

Seriously unfair! I was talking to my mom, who's in Louisiana, and she was poking fun at me because he corn is already over three feet tall

This guy is a 6 week old cockerel - he's a big chunker, but wouldn't stand still long enough to take a pic

Can anyone see enough in the pics to tell if he's what we're talking about "wide/broad"??
He's def my heaviest baby of that age by FAR!!
(and NOT the boss!!)

that flash of white on the first pic is, unfortunately, skin....they're starting to peck a lot and need to be separated out into smaller groups!
