I would love to catch those. I need to go to Oregon...

Do you ever get frustrated with your 'projects' (chicken)? I posted a couple days ago about how hard a time I have been having getting my Marans flock built up. Well today I come home and my nicest roo has somehow managed to break his neck.
The only good thing about the day is I have 6 offspring of his. One for sure is a roo, and 5 week old chicks.

Bout ready to give up on it. ;(

YES - - I get frustrated.
I had a FREAK storm come through yesterday and it really did some damage in my yard - - - knocked down a large tree and killed one of my young
blue copper marans cockerels. .. .

When it gets really, really, really BAD I reach out to BYC forum for virtual hugs

I had a really rough time of it at Christmas time . . . . Had a chicken get bumblefoot, another get an eye infection, AND then a whole hatch of 8 week old chicks came down with fowl pox.
OMG, that was a really rough month! Almost threw the towel in on that one. . .
I lost three birds and had a very expensive vet bill followed by the extensive antibiotics and eye medicine . . .. . CRAZY

I was just wondering, who hasnt the darkest eggs? I dont care about what the bird looks like, to much. Im just looking for super dark eggs.

Well, some strange thing has taken my beautiful lemon blue Cochin chicks along with the blue baby Marans I got from AyeUp, some blue splash from a local breeder...everyone was doing great on Saturday, started having bloody poop on Sunday morning and dropping like flies by Sunday early afternoon!! The other brooder (open tub) with other BCM chicks, midget whites and new Narangansett poults absolutely fine. I'm heartbroken.

Aww...I'm sorry! That is no good. I'm not 100% sure, but it sounds rather like coccidiosis to me....I've never dealt with it, but what you described sure sounds like what I've read about it before.

X2 I sent you a PM

Hello I am a (possible) newbie BCM owner. I bought 6 chicks Friday night that are SUPPOSED to be BCM but I have a question: these chicks are obviously around a week or a little more old and some feathering is coming in. They are mostly black, one has a little "copper" on his/her wings coming in, but several have some white feathers at the ends of their wings? Have I been had?
