ok...thanks! I just wanted to make sure I was on the right track. To me the color of copper is pleasing, but just wanted to make sure it wasn't too dark. A lot of the blue coppers I see are a lighter shade of copper, but I do like that deeper tone, just a preference.

I'm really pleased with the direction I'm heading! I'm gettin there Kim! It makes me happy! I'll have to count for sure on the solid blue girls...all but one have a dark blue head...I think in that pen I probably have 3 or 4 solid blues.

Oh! forgot the eye color question. All the birds in this youngest pen are about 2 to 3 months average...and the eye color on some of them are just now starting to change. I'm curious to see how much they change for sure!

Ahh Joan, I am sure that you do miss all of your wonderful birds. But I am so happy to have them because they are very beautiful and calm. Smoky is growing nicely as are his ladies. He does his dance but I think that he is just warming up because they always run away at least when I am there and see the action. White Ams have not started laying but I see them looking into the nest box so they are trying to figure it out. I will take some pictures tomorrow. Remember that Betty took half of the girls because I felt that my run is not large enough. After I had them all for a week I wanted to keep all of them but I had already promised Betty three. Their eggs are super nice and I hope they get along with the rest of her flock that were originally form me, Wyandottes and one Wellsummer.

Ok I can post pictures now. These are not very good but I will get better shots of the chickies in a few days.

The 2 hens pictured are about 6 months old according to the seller. We moved the coop to the other side of the house (inside our backyard fence), plus put a 20ft x20ft chain link run up for them. The fence is 6ft tall. We have coyotes running in the field next to us nearly every night so we felt we needed the run as well as our yard fence. Can and will Marans fly over a 6ft fence? If so at what age? Sorry for the questions but I`d hate those screaming things to get my chickies.

I have 7 foot fences for several of my temporary summer pens until I can get thinned down for winter and start construction. My marans will fly out of there. One of the pens I have has mostly 2 to 3 month olds and they will fly out. Once they get bigger, I notice my birds get enough heft to them and they don't try jumping out so much.

Didn't get any more pics today...its been stormy off and on, so I worked in the garage instead. Probably better on my back anyways.

Any more babies yet Kim? I wonder why they are misbehaving so
