Hey anyone with solid blue marans. do your solid blues lay dark eggs? 2 of my youngsters just started laying and their eggs are so light. I don't think they could even pass for marans

working.... I have some blue marans due to hatch this Sunday and then in probably 6 months, I'll know what color egg they lay

my kids will think I'm nuts but just heard peeping from the bator!

I should be outside working on this beautiful Iowa afternoon but my girls got their first ever flu vacintations and are both runnin temps. My 3yr old hasn't gotten off the couch... which is not like her @ all so were having a movie day. And were watching eggs hatch

Hey Anna...most of the solid blue marans eggs I've seen aren't all that dark unfortunately. I'm hoping to track down some this spring...still doing some more research!

My blue girl Cocoa lays pretty dark for blue I did have another blue girl, Bella, that laid dark too (Cocoa's sister) but she died this summer from the heat, unfortunately.
The I was gonna breed Cocoa to my good blue rooster and a hawk got him so I still need to get her into the breeding pen before something hideous happens to her as well. I will prob just have to use the pure black Marans boy. I don't know what kind of egg gene (how dark) he will pass on even though he is from a dark egg. Hopefully it will all work out.
This is an old pic of her when she was a pullet. I was gonna take a new one but she is molting so bad she looks terrible lol. Hopefully she gets her feathers back again before it gets too cold.

Her eggs below are the bigger speckled ones. The smaller ones were from her sister Bella. Older pic

Here's my last batch of blue babies. Only two were roos. I should have kept them lol. I kept most of the girls.
