Bless his heart. Don's suggestion is interesting, but if he wants to study Marans, the Pene influence could be a whole other project! We will welcome him aboard, and try to help him all we can!

PLEASE, let me know if you do this and how it works out. . . .

I have two of your pullets that I would have no problem doing the tesing on . . . but I would like to know how it goes with Gnarles first.
I am not setting eggs until January or Feb., so let me know if you do something before that. . . .

Your girls are already in with my beautiful dellie rooster ( Yes, I am as sweet on him as he is me! The dellie roo is my stalker roo that follows me all over the place doing the wing dance.

) So, I can set eggs without any trouble, but I want to be able to compare results with you.

It is simply the mathematician in me demanding validation of the results

Will do!!!!! Will have to wait for the Delaware girls to clear out from another Blue Copper roo they have been hanging out with. I swear 3 of these Delaware girls are outta control and do not live where they are put, I lput them in coops with 6' fenced runs and clip their wings, but it does not help. They are not having it...wonder how hard it will be to keep them in with Gnarles. I am hoping to get some time this weekend. I also have to test out that other Blue Copper male that Don suggested I hold back. Gosh....lots of testing.

I've never had any issues with leg color but the day is young.

Wow Pink, those Dellie girls sound like real acrobats! The only one here I have ever seen fly that high, is JR. He was playing "Bad Charlotte" one night, and decided to roost on top of the run, 6'. Guess he changed his mind sometime afterwards, because the next moring, my deck corner was covered in poop.

Debbi, what is the first thing that comes in you mind lately when you think about the Marans, ? Heaven love the Penne crosses.

Hey All, If anyone has Marans pictures with Faults or DQs how about posting them on the Marans SOP thread and then we can refer people there to see them. Lot less traffic, I think that is what Wynette had in mind.

It started with only 1 girl that liked to wander....then I put 2 younger pullets in with her so they could become friends....(was moving the 2 younger Del pullets to the laying flock and didn't want them to be picked on, so I thought I would be smart and give them an older buddy. Turns out I am not so smart.....she taught them her bad habits immediately, but atleast my plan of them becoming buddies worked out, now the besties spend their days jumping from coop to coop. Have no clue which coop I will find them in each day. Atleast they aren't cockerels.
Bad Del's!

They make me crazy....but I do love them. They are incrediably friendly.

Look at those puffy cheeks! Cute!

Your cockerel is pretty....is he suppose to be a solid Blue Marans or is he a Copper? Oh and he will definitely get his louder crow on, sooner than you think too. I love when they first start to crow.

thanks! He is supposed to be solid blue. His is from eggs from Peachick. I think those eggs travelled the furthest.

Well, at least they go in the coop at night! White birds, sitting up high in the dark = Owl dinner!

Speaking of going in at night, your girls and boys for that matter, REFUSE to go in the coop at night. never had any here that did that before?? Tried putting Olivia in last night, but she was quicker than me, and ran right back out to the run. It got down to 20* last night, and I am worried these dummies will freeze to death. It's not like they are scared of the other birds, they just prefer to be outside. Any suggestions?? I'm thinking tonight, I will close the big and pop doors, and try putting them in through the outside nest box. They are quick buggers!
