Roberta, think Missouri! That is the reason I moved here. Slightly warmer than NE in the winter, although we do have our ice storms and tornados too! First from CT., for ged abodit! Second, moved here from Calif. in 1989. My real estate taxes this year were $253.00! ; house, 3.5 acres. In CA, I was paying $1700.00 per year for 1/2 acre with no outbuildings and a house. that was back in 1988, the year before I left! Can't even imagine what it is now??

I love the Shamos!!!!!! Such coool looking birds! Wish I had the set up here for some. Got to stay focused, got to stay focused, got to stay....

Not quite sure who I am answering to here?? As for the sprigs; unless this bird was an absolutley, spot on perfect bird in ALL other respects, I would not breed it. The sprigs do pass on easily! Also, watch for the Carnation comb to pop up!!! Check all roos and hens!!! Yes, the roo does contribute to the egg color of the offspring! Hatch from the darkest eggs, and hopefully it will move you forward into the darker eggs. Dark egg to dark egg will help to gaurantee, but does not necessarily gaurantee a darker egg!
