I miss my Q-tip boy...he was a white silkie, I LOVED HIM and his crow made me smile in delight every time I heard it. I rehomed him to a farm in Oregon where he is the only rooster with more birds of his own size. He and his 2 bantam Ameraucana girls were quite dwarfed around here and being that I only had the 3 banties, justifying a coop just for them could not be done.

Yes, I love their funky, scratchy, crows! One is slightly more musical, but the rest of them sound like a cat fight!

Don't even know if the eggs are fertile or not, these are the first eggies, but I couldn't just toss them...what a sap!

you know something funny? I was looking at my scribbled notes last night i havent transcribed into my hatching and bloodline/etc book and was seeing that pretty consistently my birchens will hatch early. its the cuckoos here that are slower to hatch

haha I'll try! They've taken to jumpin the 7 foot fence and "freeranging" the neighbors lawn/snowpiles (most of them are melted now). I think its just them flexing their teenage muscles really. I don't think my neighbor particularly enjoys them over there

I used to have early hatches all the time when I used the stryo 'bators, but with the Sportsman I haven't had that happen. I've got it dialed in where it runs at 99.9 constantly. If I monkey with it more to get it a tad lower then it goes a touch too low so I figure 99.9 is good enough for me, but amount of development the eggs have and still have 9 full days to go...they will be early. I'm buggin' out about hatch day too because we are suppose to go to the big city (Portland) and celebrate NY with our friends band where I am suppose to sit in and sing with them so I won't be here until way later on the morning of the 1st. I'll be out of my mind!

Yes!!! More pics!!! I find that so odd that they are flying over a 7' fence?? I've never seen any of mine go any higher tha 6' and that was only one time. I have plain old field fencing around my land, and they don't even go through that? Several of them are getting bolder and wandering off to the "woods of no return" a few times a day. Wish some of the cockerels would just stay out there!

The man still hasn't called to pick up the odd roos, hope it's just the holiday getting in the way...

haha...I blame my young wyandottes I run in with the Marans that were hatch mates for spreading the their fence jumping delinquent behavior. I have some I have to watch like the hawks do...literally (I've been watching a pair of rather large hawks, probably redtails scouting out the place lately) and make sure they stay on this side of the fence. There is tons of tree coverage over here, but not at all for the neighbors yard...so the best birds I'm raising for breeding I worry about..
