Haha. I just don't wanna end up with baby chicks in the house again this winter. Last winter I had who knows how many. We do have on outbuilding with electricity but its not really set up for anything yet ...just a metal building with a dirt floor but since has water and electricity to it, I eventually want to make it into brooding and grow out pens. It has an attached double carport and covered 2-horse stall. We are just slow about getting stuff done around here because we have too many projects going at once this year.

I think its all in the timing. I don't mind so much the first 2-3 weeks then after that, they get stinky lol

That's why I'm shooting for about mid Feb.

Thanks about the rooster - I like him, he's a sweetie and am hoping he gets to stay!

Everyone was mopey today b/c it was SSOOOO cold!!
He also just hangs out when I'm around (he's in the layer house w/ the egg ladies and some growing up roosters and he is low in the ranks)

He doesn't have a sprig, but does have a tiny thumbprint at the very end of the blade.

Do all those other points count, if they're on the blade?

As for the tail - he came to me picked terribly - lower back and tail were bald.
I was really hoping that you guys would tell me that it might come back over his first adult molt!!

I'll have to check for the white feather on his wing and try for some better pics!

I hear ya on the Calgon thing. My plan is to set up a tropical indoor/outdoor room with a jacuzzi and a fire pit, with lots of fragrant plants and a
mini bar. That will be my 'escape' paradise lol.
