"Splash" can come in varying degrees of white with spots. My understanding is that typically, first generation Splash are generally the most spotted - but - I'm not the most experienced breeder here.

Do you think that splash to splash would create whiter and whiter "splash"?

I believe that's what I've read .... (If I ever end up with 2 of them of opposite sexes, I'll let you know what the results are!!!!

That makes a lot of sense!

I have to check my notes, but I think she came in an order of BCM-??-

my usb adaptor was magically transported by little hands I think back downstairs to the couch, which is all the way on the other side of the house from where I keep my camera stuff and never had it over there. So, at this point, I'm just relieved i have it! It was tucked down between cushions. I have quite a few memory cards and transfer pics once I fill a card to a thumbdrive for storage and free up the memory cards again. So I don't really have to worry about losing them luckily.

Seeing as how Splash is a dilute of Blue, if you continually breed Splash to Splash, you will lose more and more of the blue spots. Need to breed the Splash back to a Blue to maintain the color. That said, I don't have a Splash roo either...yet!

this might sound odd , but that first comb reminds me of what an invert looks like in a rosecomb. I've never really thought about it since most of the birds I've raised over the years have been rosecombs...but it would stand to reason that if rosecombs can get it, then so can single combs.

He should regrow any feathers lost pretty quickly. Like a broody hen does when she picks out all the feathers on her chest while sitting on the eggs.
The broody hen doesn't stay bald til the next molt.... Those feathers grow back it.

You are going to want to sit on this boy for a month any ways just to make sure he isn't carring anything contagious....

In selective breeding.... you always want to match the traits in the hen and roo. If his tail is real high you would want to use your hens with the lowest tail sets.
If his tail is WRY , you don't want to use him at all.
If his tail if just right.... then you could pair him with hens that are slightly high.

Then there is the issue of how open is his tail.

I, PERSONALLY, would rather WAIT to select the hen that compliments him the best versus hatching a bunch of chicks that I might not be happy with.

OH LET's NOT FORGET the big WHITE in the tail feather DQ...

Hens, yuppers, Carnations in the makings! When I first saw the one on my "Muttley", all I could think was that it looked ingrown at 4 weeks. Like maybe when it started getting larger, it would pop out and up?? HA! It's still getting bigger and uglier! This is an older pic, but you get the idea. As for your "Blue" boy, ahhhh, me thinks blue Copper is more like it.

x2! Last year I had baby chicks during the winter in the house and I did NOT enjoy that at all!

I think its all in the timing. I don't mind so much the first 2-3 weeks then after that, they get stinky lol
