I guess so! Or maybe a forewarning to keep it under control! haha Either way...I just thought it funny since I don't even have the hatcher yet! haha

how old are the young ones? i wish i could just come over and help you sort thru them. if it were me, since you have way better stock comin....i would grow the boys to dressing weight...won't take long and process them and hold onto the girls just to seewhat they do. if they dont look fantastic, id sell them as layers and just hold onto the original 4. i think once you get the better stock you'll see how drastically different they are. the other bonus is, that you won't be feeding extras and save expense and space for the better stock. does that make sense?

I have an abundance of growing space. But last year we had a crazy amount of grasshoppers here and they kill most of my plants... Atleast that's my excuse for having a black thumb

just kidding we do have a ton of grasshoppers I hate them! *shivers*

Debbie that's so cool about your silkie babies. Now I'm really jealous! I wish mine were laying now...as soon as they went in thier new breeding pen with thier new 3 nestbox setup (way down low a few inches off the ground) they quit laying altogether..terds! I can't wait to see your new fuzzybutts.

Hey Debbie: I noticed something wierd on my pet quality white rooster I told you about. I've been thinking he had some dirt or something on his tail feathers and now it has become clear they are black feathers not solid but kinda streaky throughout the tail. So today I picked him up in the sun and those blacker feathers are definitely barred-like cuckoo or something. He has a little on his primary wing feathers too now but nowhere else. Wierd..so he must have cuckoo in him?

Vicki: this is that sausage stuffer attachment (what it looks like) for the mixer. It has two different sizes that come with it. I bought my sausage casings from a place on ebay that was pretty reasonable. They last forever in the fridge. When I made the chicken apple gouda sausage it came out really good but a little dry. I wanted it lean but I should of added more pork fat to it so it would be less dry. Next time I will do that.

mornin! Where did you find recipes for sausages? Did they come with the attachment or? I've never made them, but I know they would be a hit around here with everyone on my dad's side of the family. Esp with as much as we grill out here in the summer.

I was bored last night so I planted 5 different kinds of papaya seeds lol. I am totally wanting to plant stuff again now. My pepper plants finally froze, I wasn't getting much on them anymore because as soon as a pepper got big enough to become noticable the turkeys would go pull it off. I'm gonna have to make a better garden fence now because those turkeys pushed down the little flimsy one I had around there lol. They taught the buff orp girls how to jump up and grab peppers too now and of course sassy just gets up on the turkeys back and gets her share.

I think I am going to live that dream for you. I put 18+ eggs in the hatcher yesterday. That made room

I have another 20+ eggs going into lockdown next Saturday. I set 4 doz yesterday and I still have space for Pinkchick's babies

. Processing, processing, processing...... nesting is going to be happening over the next few weeks to make room for all these babies. I think I am going to try to sell these first two batches to make more room. I am not going to worry if I don't. Funny... hubby is handling it very well. I think since we know how to process it is making us both feel better about the whole think.

My flexwatt will be here Monday

and the first think I am going to make are some brooder warmers.... I am going to need them

Could be? White masks all underlaying colors, so no telling what's in him unless you test breed him. I was looking at my whites yesterday, and in the sunlight, I could see what looked like gold shimmering through. ??? It dawned on me it's probably from the scratch I toss them for treats? I had read where this happens in whites when they get fed corn. The little pigs LOVE their scratch!! They are scratch JUNKIES!! They will all line up by the fence and whine when they see me coming with the morning bucket!
