Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Lil' Bill and Darryl ventured out into the big bad snow yesterday. Don't know why he is holding his tail straight up like this...weirdo.

Lil' Bill's boy, the only one I kept from the first test breeding with LB. All hunched up and looking funky...he really does have a nice station, even at this young age. He is completely spoiled rotten and he knows it. Atleast he has stopped closing his eyes everytime I pick him up now.

A little Blue Copper pullet also sired by Lil' Bill....she is a sweetie pie. No copper yet that I have seen but I also have not scruntinized her closely. Maybe I will pester her today and look for copper.

Poularde~ I am soooooo glad that you love them! I am also glad that you decided to keep them around for a while and yes they should make lovely olive eggers. Wish the comb issue hadn't popped up in them. If you are ever looking for someone to test some first gen. olive eggies let me know...I would be happy to give them a go.

Please do....I only have 2 OE's right now and both decided to stop laying about 3 months ago. I would love to add a few more OE layers to the laying flock, so when ever you are ready my friend just let me know. What color Araucana boy are you going to use?

those little ones are cuties Kim....esp the head on that little pullet!

Thanks Vicki! I love this little pullets head..she has very delicate and femine features about her. I am excited to see her mature, I would like to test her back to her father to see what happens.

My boy is either a Blue gold birchen or a blue with gold leakage. So you could get some blues. I have only hatched a few eggs from them. I have hatched a couple of splash.

You can see his splash baby in the background.

That's my favorite on the girls! I usually cull ones that don't have this look when they are young. They make fantastic layers tho haha
