Definately NOT a Splash chick, and I doubt it's pure Marans! A Splash chick at that age will be a white/yellow color. Hatcheries are not known for their breeding practices, and if they told you that this bird is a Splash Marans, that would prove it to me! Did you send them a picture of this chick?? The leg color is wrong as is the beak and comb color. If you want Marans, it is always best to buy from a reputable breeder. Also, you need to do some homework here as well. Black Copper, Blue Copper, Cuckoo, and Splash are all color varieties of the Marans breed. One color does not make it any more a Marans than another, they are just different colors, but all still Marans. Don't believe everything the hatcheries tell you, chances are, they don't know themselves!ok, here are some more pics....
she has feathered legs.... so that means blue splah or maran (or mix?)... the hatchery says there are "blue splash" marans that show only the black coloring, no blue. i am assuming that the black expression in the blue maran line is not the same thing as a black copper maran. anyway, you can really see how red she is here!
what do you think???![]()
