Got my second birchen egg today. Its a bit darker and a tiny bit bigger (in back). There's still lots of dark dots, esp on the top, so I'm hoping they might still get darker!

thank ya! They still have quite a ways to go til I'm happy, but its a step in the right direction.
Will get a photo up as soon as they get here, if I am still home when the mail lady comes. If not, as soon as I can.

Congrats! Yup, the one on the left is a roo. You can tell on the Wheatens when they start to feather out in the wings. As you can see, the boys will be black. I've got some in my incubator right now, praying they will hatch!Hi!
We are new to the world of Marans. (had some cuckoo's in the past, actually) Friends of our hatched 11 babies for fun for their daughters on Mothers Day. They'll be coming to live with us this weekend! So excited! They'll join our backyard flock of 6
5 of them are Wheaten Marans, 5 are Black Copper Marans & 1 is an Americauna (we think, some issues with translation from the breeder to the hatcher to us
of the 5 Wheatens, one is darker, as pictured left & the other 4 look just like the one on the right. Looking for confirmation that the darker one is a roo & we have 4 girls?!
The BCM all look pretty much the same.. some bigger combs, but not by much! I will post pictures this weekend, once they are here! We are city farmers & can't keep the roo's - so fingers crossed we have lots of girls!

He posts quite often, I wonder if he has an album there as well. Funny, I never even thought of looking there for him or his birds. I'm such a goob.
