Not so good...
I lost several birds overnight - I think from heat exhaustion?? Not sure what else it could be...??....
They were tucked behind the water tub that has younger chicks in it (they usually roost, but some of the younger birds do nest there for the night)

The only thing I can think is they started to feel wonky and tucked themselves away.
Lost my fav splash wheaten americauna cockerel and 2 others....all between 10 and 12 wks

So - I didn't want to get everyone all excited by moving them around, until I was sure the others were okay.

Yesterday was really hot and humid for us. Today was very, very humid, but not as hot.
We usually only have a couple days each summer where the birds hold out their wings and/or pant...
They did have a fan and plenty of cool water (and feed, of course!)

But - I'm hoping to sort tomorrow, if the weather holds out - just need to figure out another space to separate genders!
Unfortunately, I have the birds in groups by size, not by age....so I think that's going to mess me up some....oops!!

I did experiment a bit with the bantams - trying to feel skeleton, width, length, etc.
Not sure I made any progress though....

(but they ARE separated by age, so that's good!!)

oh no lady....I hate when that happens.....just another reason I'm not a big fan of it being so hot or humid.

The chick in the second photo is a cockerel. Do you have more photos of the rest of them? And if possible can you get photo's of them from the side? :)
