haha the cats here are death on fabric....i dont know why! they're nuts.

I've also tried the foamboard, but the younger teenage birds learned really quickly they could just knock it over and run away....live and learn around here I guess haha. I think the foamboard did well enough for the older birds...so guess I'm just going for something that will last me a long long while.

Oh, no, please don't make me do it!

haha yeah, I'm not sure it would take much arm twisting!

Anybody know of a reputable breeder that maintains Golden Cuckoo Marans??? Please PM if you have any information...thank you very much.

...Not for this year...but for next spring.

I'm sure that I'll be adding a few to my flock at that point.

Hey Don
do you put the lightbulb in a reflective hood to spread the light more?
Vicki, I just have the metal box with the ceramic light socket, the 25 watt throws off I believe around 100 actual light watts. I have a light box inside the house for taking pictures of Glass for ebay and I use two light like this there.

Tis one bulb throws plenty of light, I turn all the other lights in the room. I also have two half doors made on 2x4 welded wire for the front if needed. They seem to want to stay in the Box with the other lights turned off.

Ok, good deal. I'll have to see what I can work on here in the next couple of weeks if possible. I just never know what's happening from day to day anymore.

Vicki, if you put this together with dry wall screws, can be taken apart in 5 minutes with a cordless drill

ok, so I have a question. Being new to chickens, I am reading these threads. So, I'm reading about people who go out and find their chickens dead. What do they die of? What do I need to be aware of to keep my chickens alive? Are these chickens dieing of old age? How long do they live? Are they eating the wrong thing, plants, food? Trying to learn what to expect. I will be awfully sad if one of my chickens died.
