That might be weird, but it wouldn't be so weird to call the po on the phone and ask about your package.
yup... maybe not as dramatic a statement though.

I signed up for this hatch along but want to confirm that today is the day to set eggs. I can't seem to find any info on the hatch along. Do I need to provide photos or anything else?
I had pet ducks growing up, and they were fun to have around. I always thought geese were not so nice, but look at this:So cute! I love baby ducklings! Adult ducks, not so much.
You saved chicks! Yay!So I guess my broody Mocha choc orp gave up on the last 5 eggs, 6 had hatched. Where she had contributions to the nest for a few days, the stagger was a mess. So I brought the final 5 inside. They were fairly cool. One was sloshy, looks like it never developed. Guess I never saw it in my random checks. Another was clearly a quitter. A couple had internally pipped, so I put the final 3 in the bator.
Decided to open one that looked really tight and not moving. Assumed it was dead. Opened the air cell and it kicked me, but it was stuck. Vaseline on the membrane, a little warmth, and she popped out! Opened another last night and it still has some active blood vessels, moistened up again this morning, and it's still hanging out in the shell, so we'll see. I just hope I can give these chicks back to Mocha to raise! But I couldn't throw them away.

Welcome to (yet) another installment of orrpeople's post office report![]()
Called in at about 7:30, got the supervisor who immediately recognized my name and made a small joke about "Let me go see where they've misplaced this one!" She came back pretty quickly with, "I've got it right here, come on down and get it." (Darn, I'm thinking, I will not get to begin my career as a protester today...)![]()
So, the postal worker handed me my box and then began the story of a terrible shipment of chicks that were sent priority and arrived 3/4 DOA. She quickly pulled out the remaining live ones and gave them water and even found a blanket for them to snuggle down into while she waited for the customer to arrive. I could tell it had been very distressing for her, so we talked for a long while about the humane treatment of animals. She kind of restored my faith in our little PO workers. (Also of note, the word 'embryo' on a box makes her a lot more cautious than 'glass' or 'liquid'.)
I have to say my post office people are great to me I think I scared them once and they remember it still I had som bees shipped time through the mail that shook them up a little when I called and told them to expect a package that buzzed loud. Since then I have not had any issues with my post man actually he gets my vote from last year the mail messed up my shipment of chicks and they arrived on Saturday evening I got a call about it and he met me half way to the post office special delivery all the chickens were alive but wouldn't have had water for a couple days if he wasn't so thoughtful about it. I got some eggs the other week he actually reversed his route so the eggs would not get hot! I had offered to pick them up he said he could have them here faster they were already in his truck and wouldn't overheat
