March 2017! Hatch with us!

Thank you for your warm and gracious hosting of this hatch-a-long. It's good to have each other for the ups and downs. As they say, friendships double joys and halve sorrows.

But wait! Don't everyone go yet... my hatch date is 3/31 (just squeaked in there), and I think there might be someone else still hatching this week. Yes?

Cerise

You are squeaking in just under the wire!! :gig (hah, I don't really think there is a rule for exact hatchalong dates, I just know that a lot of folks are Easter hatching, and this HAL was meant to kind of bridge the gap between March 1 and setting dates for Easter. ) All that said, I am excited for you!! I hope you have a great percentage!!
I have a mess of staggered hatches coming in April after I pretty much swore I was going to give the incubators a break...

That's what they call addiction!! I know I'm thinking already as to what I'll be hatching next

Ok, I snuck 2 RIR under the closest broody silkie. When I threw some scratch into the pen, there were 2 very different silkie babies that came running out to see what I threw in. One white, one black. So, out of the dozen eggs, I think we got 2 chicks. Tomorrow, if I get home early enough, I"m going to brave the wrath of 6 or 7 broody hens, to clear out the eggs.

I snuck the babies in around 5 pm. Those babies burrowed under, and all the broodies just said coooo, cooooo. The one that gained a few chicks just fluffed out her wings and settled in a little more comfortably. If they are still alive tomorrow, I'll sneak in a few more. I ABSOLUTELY love my silkies. They make the best mommas....

@Cerise1924 I'm so happy that I'll get to read your hatch news in this hatchalong!!!
For some reason I find the sheer volume of posts in the next Easter hatchalong overwhelming.
I decided to skip that one which is comical since i'm not the one who decides whether any of my girls will go broody...I've set up the temptations in each possible coop (fake real eggs, plus fake wooden eggs plus a few egg shaped stones in a comfie quiet laying box) and they've garnered curiosity but no brooding yet.

What are you hatching tomorrow? How many eggs are locked down?
It's so exciting!!! Vicarious thrills here I come!
