I just had a bad hatch. The humidity might be a little low but they don't even internally pip. Could it still be a problem???
I know for a fact that yesterday morning after I rescued the eggs from my dutchie I had no indications whatsoever of life being as bad as they were chilled! But I still gave them a chance and placed them in my incubator I'm guessing that the eggs were less than 40 degrees actually cold to the touch. But as of now without a sound at first I have 5 in the brooder 2 pips still and will let the others cook a little longer just in case. So no sound doesn't make bad eggs!

I'm so sorry for your hatching troubles! The only thing I can think of to do is start checking off all the possible variables - definitely humidity levels at lockdown sound like they could be the culprit (not sure how that might play into the internal pip issue though) but go through your entire hatching "recipe" to see if there's anything that stands out. I run all my variables up against my most successful hatch rate incubations. I will usually find something that was unusual, or something I let slide, or even something new I thought would boost my rate; sometimes even the outside weather condition have affected things . Then I think about the age and quality of the eggs, what the embryos looked like at eggtopsy, and whether anyone else was hatching eggs from the same person. (If they're your eggs, you might want to send a batch to someone else to see how they fare.) It might also have something to do with the incubator - do you have a couple thermometers and hygrometers to double check accuracy?
Sorry for the long winded reply... I'm just wracking my brain to think what the root might be. i hope you are able to solve it soon!

Oh, my gosh! I am so happy! So THIS is what really good hatching eggs look like. (I've always gotten mine off eBay, and the shipped eggs have often not been viable.)

This time, I ordered five eggs from Papa's Poultry, just one state away, instead of from across the country. He sent me ten.

I just candled at Day 5 and nine out of ten have gorgeous red "spiderwebs," very clear and healthy. The tenth egg is a Marans, so I simply can't see anything. I was amazed that I could candle the Olive Egger.

YAY!! I may have 100% development on my shipped eggs on Day 5.

That's a first.

Out of 22 araucana eggs I'm down to 12. They are all bouncing and developing very well.
Out of 16 BCMs I was able to identify 3 that were for sure duds. I've got 4 that I'm positive are duds but I just can't get rid of them. I keep thinking "what if it's just too dark to see" I would be so upset if I cracked one that was developing. These dark eggs drive me crazy!
The two jersey giants I threw in are doing great too.
So there are 27 eggs in my bator now from the original 40. See honey, I told you they wouldn't all develop.

Jeff actually makes sure his eggs are fertile before shipping, and won't ever send you old eggs. He's a good egg :gig
