Such cute moms and babies!

Since my silkie's eggs haven't hatched yet and it's past when I expected, I candled two that were on the edge of her body. They were both alive. One had internally pipped. So maybe they'll finally hatch tomorrow or wednesday. I got pecked a good few times for my effort.

One of the first sets of shipped eggs I successfully hatched were TJ's Mille Fleur D'Uccle, Silver and Gold Sebrights and bantam EEs.  Of the 24 Mille Fleur eggs they sent, 22 hatched. I can't remember the split on roos/hens.  I even got 1 golden D'Uccle in the mix.  The Sebrights, I got 3 gold, and 3 silver, 5 turned out to be roos.  I kept the lone Silver Sebright, the Golden D'uccle, 2 bantam EE and 2 of the Mille Fleur .

But, now in one incubator, I have bantam EEs, sebright  and serama eggs on day 17 (all from TJChickens) and in the Easter HAL batch I have Golden Sebright plus some Porcelain  and Mille Fleur D'uccles.  Again, from TJChickens.   I admit I also have some Olive Eggers from GardenWren on day 17 as well.  So, I'm not hatching all bantams....

But, I think the best hatch percentages I get are from TJ's eggs, and they are the EASIEST birds to sell.

All but 1 of the Mille Fleur, which insists on living with the big girls, live in covered runs.  Runs and coops all need to expand with this new babies coming in.

In my hatching bator right now, I have 3 chicks - 2 speckled Sussex (I think) and one of my silkies.  LOTS of pips.  It should be a busy night!

So great! I love when the pips begin!!
How much do you sell your bantams for as day old chicks? Depending on hatch rate, I may sell a few as well.

I don't sell day old chicks, I wait until I know they are boys or girls. Boys I end up giving to the feed stores, girls I sell for $20, once they start laying I sell everything for $30. I don't sell any breed for more than another. If I decide to sell my Ayam Cemani girls, yes, those will be more.

I like the babies. I live seeing them grow and how much they change. So, this way, I make sure I get at least 1 hen, and get to see how they grow up. I lose money on everything to do with chickens, but then again, I don't make any money on my dog or my cats, or my fish....

Sounds like a good plan. That way you get to pick the nice ones for yourself.

It finally dawned on me, how I can fix my current lockdown problem.. Since I have 1 tray of day 17 eggs and one tray of day 11 eggs in the same 'bator, and I have day 20 eggs currently hatching in the other Brinsea 40. I set an almost full tray in the new Brinsea 20 for the Easter HAL. I think the trays are the same size in the 20 and 40, so I can just move the tray that needs to lock down, over to the 20, and move the Easter HAL into the 40. Woo Hoo, no extra bator needed!

Where is the head slap emoji! Why have I never used the excuse that at least I can sell a few eggs and chicks. The dogs just cost us money! Omg I love you. :gig

The 40 has 2 20 trays in it? Sounds like an ideal solution.

I have 2 Octagon 20s, an Eco and an EX. Yesterday the Eco's fan started making the weirdest noise! Luckily my duck eggs had vacated the EX, so I quickly just swapped halves. Put the EX top on the Eco bottom with the eggs in it.

Cleaned the Eco, and it was just full of fluff, I suppose. Seems to be working fine. I don't hatch in it, but I guess from the chicks being in that room, it had drawn alot in.
