In my incubator I have a few gold laced wyandotte and A BUNCH of blue laced red. I'm pretty excited. I wanted more gold but he was short on eggs after the freeze.
We used to have 2 gold laced but lost one last year so we got one more of those, two blue laced reds, and two Colombian. We were really excited about the blue laced reds and golds.

Day 7. I decided to candle 1 of my own and 2 of the eggs I bought from a local breeder. They all looked good! I saw well defined air cells and a little dark mass of chick. I really need a better light. I’ve never been able to see the veins. I’ll try at bedtime with the light on the NR360. But from my past experience things are going well so far.

Ah one of the Columbian wyandottes got stuck in the chicken wire and didn’t make it. I think it hopped out of the nest and couldn’t figure out how to get back in and ended up going the wrong way. I had to encourage the broody out of the nest but now she’s taking care of the rest, keeping them warm and showing them food.

My two guinea fowl are going into lockdown today. Would it be possible to house them with my new chicks when they hatch? I have a seperate brooder with heat lamp but with only 2 putting them in the big brooder with heat plate would save a lot
*edit* or if only one hatches it will have company

Second call duckling hatched out this morning! I’ve got another that internally pipped a couple hours ago. I’ll give it a safety hole in the morning before work. My call Cami is broody and sitting on 12 eggs as well!

Now I’ve got 1 grey and 1 blue fawn! After these next two I’ve got another batch ready to go in.:woot
