MARCH 2021 HATCH-A-LONG 🌷🌸🌼

So it’s day 22. I’ve left the unhatched eggs on lockdown. Since my 7 yesterday morning I’ve not even had a pip. I’m super thankful for the 7 that hatched but a bit disappointed that 15 are sitting there with not much encouragement of hatching. 12 of those eggs I bought and not one of the purchased eggs have pipped. These eggs were not shipped. I got them from a guy next county over. He ran an ad in the MS Market Bulletin for hatching eggs. Any suggestions on how long I should wait?
I would wait till at least day 24, some people wait until day 25.😊

Myself,
candle see if any movement, any broke into the air pocket? I go about 3 days or so after last chick hatched and toss them (candle 1 last time if preferred), or you could open them up and try to see what went wrong.
If you just has 7 yesterday you could have some slower ones coming.
I had 40 eggs last hatch. They started hatching 18th just had 4 more last night. 2 silkies had made it to the air pocket broke shell, but not membrane. I opened up small hole through membrane for air. they took about 48 hours finally last night they hatched.
Then 2 large eggs hatched I was not expecting thought they were done.

Completed is my March hatch. 22 chicks total out of five dozen (60) and 8 chicks out of the additional 2 dozen (24) that would have been a custom hatch for a customer. Total is 30 chicks from 7 dozen (84) eggs. I won't do the math in public but it's the biggest loss of eggs I've ever experienced. Not the poorest hatch (that was 0% in a GQF) but the Isbar (Silverudd's Blue) have a 100% hatch record in my Brinseas. :he

Meet baby number 3. Out of six eggs three have hatched. Baby number two is very week and I am not sure it will survive as it was a upside down pipped baby.

I have my first pip on the second set of 16 eggs!!! These are the Pita Pintas they are day 20.. I had 11 that made it to lockdown.

I now have 9 of 11 pita eggs pipped. Day 21 starts at 8:00 pm tonight. It looks most of them should hatch on day 21. A couple might make it out just before that. I think they are starting to think about zipping. I see some beak action.
I am super excited to be adding these to my flock!!
