Wow! Those are really visible! That is awesome! I hope mine are that clear when I candle them in a few days....

I have a very bright light, 1250L. If you catch yourself in the eye with the beam it's like looking at the sun. Someone here on BYC mentioned micro USB rechargable flashlights. That was a total game changer for me. If you're hatching regularly a good flashlight is indispensable.

Anything 700+ lumen will do a pretty decent job of candling. A lot depends on egg color and shell quality but you should be able to see quite a bit!

I will be setting 25 shipped silkie eggs, lavender, paint and BBS, as soon as the permits clear (Hawaii requires them) and the breeder collects them. Expecting them to get here by the end of February!

Just put 26 eggs in my incubator. I know it sounds odd, but I hope nothing will develope. I had to replace the rooster last week. I had a hunch that he was not doing his job. The test hatch of 5 were all infertile. I got a new rooster but I want to make sure all of them are infertile before I hatch from the new rooster. If those are infertile and when I get fertile eggs I know they are from the new rooster. Makes sense?
Planing for a March 30th hatch for all my other eggs.

I am in for the March hatch, I picked up 14 White American Breese eggs (drove 4 hours to get them yesterday). This breeder has great fertile eggs,but the usps handling causes detached air cells and I get poor hatch rates. Keeping me fingers crossed

Posted this on the spectacular silkies thread as well, but thought all you silkie incubators/hatchers here would also enjoy it! Photo from this morning.
The plate they are all standing on is a dessert sized plate.
6 silkies hatched Friday and Saturday. First chicks from my stock I got from Alabama silkies. So excited and they are already sold (I have a wait list). Keeping back one so far. Have some more hatching next week (I am on the February hatch along as well).
