March 21 or so hatching

mine went on lockdown today, candled them yesterday and it looks like 10 are growing nicely so fingers crossed . good luck to everyone else

We'll lock down Thursday morning. I have to live vicariously through you guys once yours start hatching. Otherwise I'll be impatient for mine and try to "help" them along.

I started hearing peeping from the incubator at around midnight last night - about 8 hours ago. I had a hard fime sleeping after that. I still hear the peeping this morning but no signs of pipping yet. How long after they start peeping can they survive without hatching? Can they get enough air in there without pipping? I have to work tonight. Uhg. I took tomorrow off specifically so I could be home for the hatch.

Usually they should pip within 24 hours. Once they have that pip, I wouldn't worry too much because they won't suffocate in the shell then. Within 24 hours of pipping, they should hatch before they get shrink wrapped.
You might check into the learning center for assisted hatch to familiarize yourself with it in case you decide to intervene. Some people say it's survival of the fittest, and some want to help it out. I've assisted before and I'm glad I did!

I just saw this thread. I put mine on lockdown this morning. This is my first hatch of this season with 2 more staggered hatches already in the 18 day incubator waiting on their lockdown incubator and 14 more ready to go in there tomorrow (which will be the 4th hatch excluding the turkey eggs). Good luck to everyone who has, is, or will be locking down soon. Happy Hatching !!!

Thank you Aacre, I'll be getting home from work tonight right around the 24 hour mark. If the peeper doesn't pip by then, should I do anything? I could probably candle the eggs without touching them with my phone to find out who the peeper is.

That would be a good idea to candle to see who it is. Hopefully by the time tiu get home will have a pip, if not a little wet fuzzbutt!
