Usually they should pip within 24 hours. Once they have that pip, I wouldn't worry too much because they won't suffocate in the shell then. Within 24 hours of pipping, they should hatch before they get shrink wrapped.I started hearing peeping from the incubator at around midnight last night - about 8 hours ago. I had a hard fime sleeping after that. I still hear the peeping this morning but no signs of pipping yet. How long after they start peeping can they survive without hatching? Can they get enough air in there without pipping? I have to work tonight. Uhg. I took tomorrow off specifically so I could be home for the hatch.
Thank you Aacre, I'll be getting home from work tonight right around the 24 hour mark. If the peeper doesn't pip by then, should I do anything? I could probably candle the eggs without touching them with my phone to find out who the peeper is.Usually they should pip within 24 hours. You might check into the learning center for assisted hatch to familiarize yourself with it in case you decide to intervene. Some people say it's survival of the fittest, and some want to help it out. I've assisted before and I'm glad I did!![]()

That would be a good idea to candle to see who it is. Hopefully by the time tiu get home will have a pip, if not a little wet fuzzbutt!
