March Hatch A Long... anyone with me??

I'd like to join. I have a broody White Leghorn sitting on 11 eggs (1 white LH, 3 banty mix and 7 red sex-link/RIR mix) due to start hatching March 4th. This is my first time trying to hatch chicks. We bought juvenile and chicks last summer and have been hooked ever since!

I am so excited for the new babies to arrive!!!

When you say porous - meaning the pores look large and "open" is this a bad thing? I have two that are starting to look that way out of 14

I mean the shell has like lighter areas and darker areas... on the rest, It looks like the egg shell is thicker or something...you can't see through it wo/ a flashlite. the porous ones you can see a little.... I'm sure there's a picture of a porous egg on BYC... let me look. I don't know if they're bad or not. some people say that they don't hatch.

ok, in the hatching eggs index, there's a thread about the progression of some eggs too the end of their hatch, it's a GREAT thread and plenty of pics.... check that out.

I don't know how to link it directly to here.... but right in the beginning there's a pic of a porous egg and right there it says that they're not the greatest for hatching.

I have some Silver-Laced Wyandottes due on the third and some of Hoppy's White and White/Splash Wyandottes due on the tenth. I've been doing continuous hatches since early February; so much fun!
