March Hatch A Long... anyone with me??

Um, yes sir ee! I"m always a bundle of nerves for hatching... and I LOVE it!
I haven't candled quite yet... I'll wait for this weekend... the dark eggs I can't see thru anyway, but maybe those banties???
I'll try...
they are sure cute!
the bator is holding well on temp, 99.5 to 100.5 (still air LG with turner) so all is well there...

this week should be fun with everyone candling!!!

I have two week old chicks too, so I'll post some fuzz butts pics later... :)

I thought a still air incubator needed a bit higher temps. I use a forced air with those temps.

Correct!
Between 101-102 for still air

I think I will try to candle a few of the eggs tomorrow night... maybe should wait until Sat... they are at just over 48 hours now.

I am nervous, because at first my LG turner cups weren't in well enough, and a few of the eggs kept tipping over. Then I bumped the bator once... I sure hope they aren't too delicate!!

OK, so I peaked at a few of them... all three had dark blobs up in the top floating around... hoping that is a blood island and that soon they will have spiders!!!

I have a Hovabator 1602N coming and the instructions I read on the GQF website are calling for a temperature of 100 degrees.

Should I follow the manufacturer's instructions, or go with what I've read here and on the U of Minnesota Ag Extension website?

First timer and very nervous.

I think it depends on where the temp sensor is. I have a homemade still air incubator, temp is 100 (37.8 C), sensor just on top of the eggs or maybe a tad lower. So if it says 100, that's what I would do, but wait for Hovabator owners to respond

While I was marking them and setting them in the bator, they felt 'alive'... was that just my imagination?

I've got the 1602... Don't know anything, but I did a search for old posts, and they seemed to agree on 101 - 102, top of egg temp, so that's what I'm doing.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this - two of my eggs have started to have a "Porous" look to them - almost like on our skin like the pores are enlarged - is this bad or good or indifferent? the other 12 do not show this at all
