Oooh, I love the pics of the widdle fuzzybuttz! Gets me all excited for our chicks-to-be. We go into lockdown ONE WEEK FROM TODAY! Woohoo!
Curious question.... does a broody hen get up from the nest the last 3 days of incubation? The reason I'm asking is not only is my bator full, but I've got a broody hen sitting on eggs & they're all supposed to hatch around the same time. We are thinking of bringing the broody and her eggs in the house in a big dog crate until the chicks are all hatched.
Now, should I take the chicks from Olga and put them in the brooder, or should I let her keep them in the yard? I can't segregate her and her chicks from the rest of the flock, so the chicks would be subject to outside dangers and the other hens--though I think Olga will be a good mama and a fierce protector of her babies.
