The first hatch of the year always seems to take the longest.

Well, I am nine days into the latest set, which are due to to hatch March 31st, and it looks like 5 of 7 are doing well.

This is my first time incubating in an egg carton, but since these are shipped eggs and nearly all the air cells were damaged, I've got nothing to lose. I am setting another dozen tomorrow afternoon (local pickup- not shipped), they should hatch April 10th. My week old chicks are doing great, I am amazed everyday how substantial they feel.

These are LF Ameraucana chicks, and they have nice heavy bodies already. I can't wait to see how they will mature and whether they are roos' or pullets. Anyone hatching today? How's it going?

My 15 shipped EE eggs + 2 BLRW from my own birds, hatched yesterday for a 100% hatch!! These EE eggs traveled all the way from Georgia to California! I also have 26 Shipped, true Ameraucana eggs in W/BW and Buff due March 31st. These eggs haven't done as well with only 8 of the original 16 from one breeder still growing and 17 of the original 20 eggs growing from the other breeder. I think the health of the parent birds has a lot to do with how well the eggs develop. Half of these eggs had huge ruptured air cells and still hatched with ease and the babies were very alert and vigorous after hatching!
Here is the new gang
