March Hatch-A-Long

Pics
So far, having trouble getting humidity much over 50%. High has been 58%. I've got 4 wet sponges and a wet towel spread in there. Generally, it's not hard to get high humidity.... grrr closed up one of the vent holes with a paper towel to see if that helps. Been keeping the humid low for most of this hatch 25-35% humidity.
I had trouble raising my humidity on my last hatch. After trying different things, I found wet wash cloths worked better than sponges even balled up. They have more surface area for evaperation.

Unfortunately, my lighter d'uccle seems to have trouble staying upright, and I can't figure out why. I thought it had something to do with it not spreading its toes, but I'm not sure that's it. Either way, it doesn't fully stand up or extend its legs, so it might just be weak. I'm not expecting it to survive though I really wish it would. Especially since I'm curious why it's lighter than the rest.
I hope it makes it. I had a chick from my last hatch that wass weak for a couple of days, but then no problems.

I need advice and don't want my post to get lost in the forums. I have a hen that decided to go broody yesterday. I suppose technically she is still a pullet. She has only been laying eggs for a month. There are two nesting boxes in the coop, but the three hens insist on using one.
The biggest problem for me is that I have lost two days of eggs (she is keeping). She pecks at us when we try to get them. One of our three hens got injured last Monday and hasn't laid since. She is just about ready to join the little flock again. So, we were down to two layers and now none...well no eggs for us.
What should I do? I don't mind her trying to hatch, but should I move her? Wear iron gloves to retrieve eggs? Haha. I could move her to where the injured hen was staying, inside, or to the coop where the chicks have been living outside. Thank you for your ideas.

To stop new eggs from being laid, I'd move her to a solo area.

Lockdown! I’m hopeful for 23 of the 25. 2 are still very alive, but not filling up the shell like they should be. maybe they will just be a couple days behind the others. Which is weird because I set them at all exactly the same time.

Within a half hour of going into lockdown I saw some wigglers already. Bring on the babies!

I'm new to this community and this is my first post, apart from my new member introduction.

I just had 6 of 7 eggs hatch this past weekend (Saturday & Sunday). 5 of the 6 survived and are doing great. 2 are Lavender Orpington chicks and 2 are Olive Egger chicks. I also bought 2 EEs & 2 bantams at TSC this past Friday.

1 of the chicks are a cross between my Lavender Orpington Roo and a Cinnamon Queen hen. Has anyone ever crossed these 2 breeds? If so, what will the end result be in regards to chicken appearance and egg color?

Thanks and happy hatching everyone! :jumpy
