LOCKDOWN TIME!!!
Still got around 140 viable eggs that are supposed to hatch this Thursday. They're going into lockdown tomorrow.
Hoping for a good hatch this time. My highest hatch rate has been 60% so I hope that this one is higher.

Wow! Why so many? Do you sell them? That will be a lot of roos too. Last July, I hatched 24 eggs, 14 were roosters.

Haven't been able to start hatching as my hens are barely laying yet. The geese just started but eggs won't be ready to hatch till well into Apr. I plan on a 4H breeding program for some family members but since the hen has only laid 1 egg in 2 weeks I have to wait till warmer weather I guess. Since wind chills tomorrow will be -15 that's not happening yet. And eggs freeze around here in a matter of minutes.

Mine are hatching at the moment. I'm at a 65% hatch rate. Best hatch last year was 65% an this is my first of the year so I'm hoping this is a sign of how things will go.

I’d give them another week. Even the dark ones you should be able to see by then.
Duds are usually either too old, infertile, or the embryo got too cold or something before incubation.
Hopefully a few are developing or hiding on you!

Yes, Im still holding out hope. I got them from a friend that has a breeding program and she ships hatching eggs all over. She went out in the morning and collected this batch for me, I picked them up mid day and I came home and put them right in the incubator. So I dont think they were too cold, or old but they might not have been fertilized i the first place. Time will tell I guess....I can always try again, right

Ok, I just finished going in to candle some of my egg's that are due to hatch on the 14th. I have 10 shipped (from out of state) silkie egg's that are all still looking good. I have 7 from my mixed flock that are all looking good.

I added 6 silkie egg's yesterday afternoon from a local breeder, so I couldn't candle those one's yet.

I'll be candeling tomorrow. Not sure if I should be optimistic but we shall see.
