March Hatch-A-Long

Pics
Eggs Day 12 (I figured out when I set them!) I think the air bubble is HUGE for what it should normally be... And also, check out the wonky ways they're developing. The pencil marks on the top is the air cell. The pencil on the bottom is where the embryo hasn't developed yet.

Is the air bubble normal sized, wonky though they are? They seem very big to me. At least the air cell is stable now? I'm not hopeful for many babies.

Egg 1 is mostly normal.

I've no idea what Egg 2 is thinking. That's a very extreme swoop. The top pencil line is the air bubble. I'm guessing that's WAY too big? View attachment 1699773

Egg 5 is also being weird. Again, huge air bubble? I think the chick is trying to make Florida.

Here's the other side of Egg 5.

Egg 6 is mostly normal. Just a small swoop.

Egg 7 also has a swoop.

Egg 8 is being VERY weird. The bottom seems to cross into the top. I'm thinking the lighting was wrong, but still. Again, big air bubble.

Egg 9 looks like a witches hat.

Are these eggs laying on their side? If so try putting them in a paper carton and just tilt them. This should help keep the air cell stable.

Oooh-Oooh Me too, Me too!!! I am a newbie incubator-er-or...lol, & I cheated & have had a hatch 3 weeks ago but lets pretend that didn't happen & I'll start the March Hatch-A-Long with Y'all. I currently have my incubator full of a mix of black breasted bantams (love these super friendly tiny chickens) & I have a black Jersey giant Rooster fertilizing black Australorp, Rhode Island Red's & silver & blue laced Wyandottes eggs. I am excited & curious to see how my Australorp mixes with those breeds & what kind of chickens I will get. I am staggering my hatching's since I currently only have 2 of the Bantom hens. I date & throw an egg in the bator when they give me one the past 2 weeks. Seemed to work OK last months batch & I got to add two baby bantams to the brooder. Good cluck everyone, let the hatching's.....BEGIN!

Looks like I am down to 2 maaaybe 4 from my mixed 12 bunch, another one quit on me! Suspect that parcel may have been another drop kicked parcel.

Had an early candle of my orpington lot and I see tiny spiders on possibly all of them! So I might not get maby standard form hatches but I should be drowning in bantams hopefully :D

Yay !! Very good news :)
These eggs were my own, is an absorbed yoke sac a malnourished/older chicken problem or incubation issues?

Im hoping someone comes along that knows more about this than me because Im curious as to why this happened also. Sorry this is happening but it looks like youre managing it like a superstar!:highfive: If you can take anything away from it you are helping alot of peeps learn how to deal with this situation should it arise. I know I never knew this could happen so thanks for sharing. :jumpy
