March Hatch-Along Thread- Come Hatch With Us!!!!!

Oh and if she goes broody again before my incubator eggs hatch can I just stick the chicks from my incubator under her? Has anyone tried that?
I think it would be a bit risky if the hen has only been broody for a short time. She might be confused at getting chicks so soon after going broody.
But she might accept them. Maybe others will have an opinion on it..

UGG - came home today to find the incubator stinking. Turns out I was cooking a polish egg for a week. Oh well, on the brighter side I have 5 good eggs still! On day 9 here! What do you guys use to candle maran eggs? Mine are really dark and my little flashlight does nothing to it!

I used to use 2 flashlights (1 on top and one on bottom.) I bought a high lumen flashlight off of ebay and can now see inside the darkest Marans eggs.

Also, I would love to know what kind of incubator you all use!

I use a homemade styrofoam cooler with no auto turner. Saving money for an upgrade!

I built 2 cooler bators from igloo coolers that I used for a few months. They held temp. and humidity perfectly so when I bought a Sportsman I started using the cooler bators just for hatching. I know they work because I have gotten 100% hatches from local and my own eggs.

All BO/EE mixes. They're mostly buff like their daddy. One looks like it has a darker stripe/spot on its head. Will have to wait until they're fluffed up to tell for sure.

I have a quick question.... I purchased eggs online and they should have been shipped the same day... today, but one of them will not be able to ship till tomarrow or Friday!

Soooooooo

Should I wait the first eggs and put them all in togeather at the same time.....

or should I just put them in there on scedual (after 24 hours of settling time? right) and then do the other eggs as soon as I can like after 12 hours of settling time... This way they would be 1-3 days difference..... if this way I figure I will have to stil turn them manually for the difference of time 3-4 times a day but do you think the extra humidy for the hatch will effect them while they are this close in age? I would think being this close it would be fine... but I have ZERO experence with it

... but I am concerned about waiting too long with the other eggs before putting them in as they were the more expensive ones... any help would be appriciated!

If they are going to ship the eggs to you tomorrow or Friday they will more than likely be sitting in the PO over the weekend. You probably won't get them until Monday. As for the incubator I would honestly get another one for the second batch of eggs if they are going to be that late.

Such beautiful babies! Ohhh....I am SO jealous!!

I'm on day 14 later on tonight. Anxiety is starting to surface. I candled two of my eggs yesterday (just couldn't help myself. LOL) and the air cells look good I think. All I could see was a dark mass filling the eggs and lots of veining too. What I'm a little worried about though is I'm not sure if I could see any movement. I thought for a moment I could, but don't know if it's just my eyes playing tricks on me.

Would it be normal to not necessarily see movement on day 13/14? Day 10 there was definitely movement, and for sure there has been growth since then.

Encouragement and hope need here in Thailand please.
