- I had a hard time getting mine up to temp too. I spent about a day and a half after I set my eggs getting mine up to proper temp. Mine are developing quite well and no harm seems to be done. Long as you trust your thermometer like Johnderosa said you should be fine.

Your eggs should be just fine. At the worst, you may have delayed your hatch by a few hours. Here is a link that explains a range of temps and how they can affect your hatch. It's a useful chart. It takes a lot of the stress out of fluctuating incubator temps.

Check it out! Today in lab I x-rayed one of my incubating eggs. This is on day 20. You can see where the chick has internally pipped. I could hear it chirping

I use an incubator that I made 3 years ago. It's one of the styro cooler bators. Back in August of 2012 I had a house fire and I salvaged the incubator from the mess of what was left. I was told there was temps in excess of 1200 degrees in the house, but the bator had stuff piled around it and it saved it from the heat. This is the second time I've used it since the fire, and I think I'm going to rebuild it with a new thermostat after this hatch.

32 eggs went in, today was day 11, candle day for me, 30 still in the bator. I didn't crack open the two that I removed but they didn't look like they started to develop so thinking they were infertile.

I built my own cabinet incubator and used a digital thermostat from incubator warehouse that has a built in thermometer. It"s preset at 99.5 so all i do is plug it in and go. It's really that easy. I dont want to jinx myself but it really has worked well and i would recommend it. I think it was about $50. But cant remember the exact amount. I have a bi-metal thermostat set at 102 as a backup. It was about $10 on e- bay

I now have 4 chicks two are doing great two are weak (one of which is cuddling under my shirt hopefully warming up and getting energy it has a very bad crooked neck I tried to do a splint tyoe set up to help straighten it out. I also have 4 more chicks working on hatching one is malpositioned head at the small end of the egg pretty sure it will not make it but still hopeful on the rest.
