Well, tomorrow is lockdown. I have about 15 out of 20 silkie eggs left. I didn't see any development in 4 and 1 was a double yolker that started to develop. But I didn't realize it was a double until I saw two big eyeballs or I wouldn't have put it in there. It will be a miracle if any of them hatch. My bator has been scitzo this whole time. Temp and humidity fluctuations galore. Sunday is day 21. C'mon my little five toed babies!!!

Here is my first hatch in March. Time to clean the 'bator and start the next batch, turkey and lavender/split ameraucana's.
7 out of 11 Black/blue Copper Marans (onthespot) There is one more in the bator but I don't think it will make it.
7 out of 7 White Ameraucana's (pips&peeps)
1 out of 3 Lavender Ameraucana (my own)

Beautiful babies everyone. I am on day 19 but I am not holding out much hope. We lost power for almost a week. We finally bought a generator on day three. I candled and saw a few still moving so I am

for atleast a couple to hatch. I had to toss about half of the original bunch.

Hi all,

Very nice chicks. Today is day 21 and 1 silkie hatched and 1 pipped. From candling the eggs I think 1/2 of the dozen are clear so I wasn't expecting much. Since I wasn't positive on the candling I decide to leave everything in. The Silkie chick is so tiny compared to the Cochins and much less active. I'll get some pictures later.

goodnight all!!!

Congratulations everyone! Two of my 3 silkie hatching eggs have hatched and the remaining one has pipped! I should add they are under two of my broody hens that nest together and have shared nesting duties. I've named this little one Tulip.

Both hens are now jostling for motherhood at the moment (with chicks moved from under one to another) but have successfully settled on one chick apiece. Not sure if I should separate them. Anyone with experience with broody silkies have a suggestion?

day 17, 27 eggs set Feb 14th Am
2 Clear non Developing on day 10, Left until Day 13 for better/clearer candling.
2 removed tonight Stopped developing, 1 early quiter (just eye showing), one just quit in the last 24-48 hours: no movement, (the lower portion was clear, instead of dark) .
Humidity upped to 40% Temp 99.0-100.0
Lockdown for the remaining 23 will begin morning of the 5th. Hatch Date should be the 7th.
