I mean I am not a vet or anything, but I do not think it is very likely.
Good to know! Thanks. From what I understand from looking it up it’s mostly only in chickens turkeys and quail?? But I guess anything is possible. But I don’t really handle them too much anyway so I think they should be okay.

Thanks...this is what I wanted to know.
It's hard to tell by just looking at them just how skinny they have gotten. If he felt boney he was really not well.
You did the right thing.
I guess all the chickens here are dying of malnutrition and have been for the past decade given on every one I can feel their keel bone.

Yeah cause he looked perfectly normal still like good feathers and stuff but pretty sure he was definitely losing weight. :(

And thanks :hugs
The only reliable way to assess a chicken weight is to weigh them. This feeling keel bones stuff is such nonsense. Don't fall for this rubbish. If you want to know then you need to weigh them over a period of time.
You also need to take into account the breed and structure of the individual bird. By the feel the keel bone test just about every chicken outside the USA died years ago.:)

Thanks! This is very interesting and helpful. Especially cause I can feel some of my other chickens’ bones too. Although I thought it wasn’t just feeling itself that was bad but the shape of it or sharpness or whatever? I read somewhere I think about how it’s “supposed” to feel. But even that probably isn’t 100% accurate.
