Just sharing this memory is a loving tribute to a bird you loved and made the best choice for. What you did- all of it- is nothing but love and good animal husbandry. I actually am in awe of you- especially being a young lady. Hell, I’m 45 and am not nearly strong enough to do what you did. Honestly, from the outside looking in, you nothing but love for red. I commend you beyond expression. This is all so admirable. Feel good about yourself. I wish you all the best of luck in future endeavors. If anyone should continue to have something to do with birds, it is you, young lady.Funny story about Red. My hens have always been somewhat lazy butts and often sleep in pretty late, don’t usually lay until the afternoon, etc. Well, Red always crowed at exactly 5:45 (or sometimes 6) in the morning and got their lazy butts out of bed![]()

The last 4 are pretty sad & I hate remembering him that way but they really show how handsome he truly was & show his coloration well so I’m including them anyway. Because even just a month ago (first couple pics) he still looked like a bit of a scraggly teenagerand now he was finally looking like a handsome man and he got this
RIP Red
