Mass Chick Death- WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED???

You mentioned that a lot of the chicks weren't in their own enclosure and that the survivors were huddling around the edges. What is your heat source again?

Is it possible that something happened with the heat source and it overheated the brooder? In that case I would expect chicks to be doing all they can to get away from the heat -including busting out- and then once away maybe chilling to death.

They said an electric heat source

The time it takes to kill something via poison is going to vary hugely depending on what it is. Poison dart frog toxin from the right frog can kill in minutes if it gets into the bloodstream. Clearly not the case here, but you definitely can't say that poison, period, takes any specific amount of time.

And what kind of video were you watching? I'm hoping you mean a video about poisons, and not just... a video of something dying of poison.

I got that. Now I want to know what electric heating plate specifically. I see that it appears to be hung. The one time I used a heat plate for chicks is the only time I ever lost every chick I had in that brooder. They all died in contorted positions.

She said she is feeding medicated chick starter. What brand? Dumor was the feed the above chicks of mine were on when they died. My adult birds got sick on Dumor. That brand is crap.

Also, OP I apologize if you said so before, but where do you live? A venomous snake bite can kill a chick very quickly, but send it running before it dies. I've seen a venomous snake in shed with eye caps attack and kill everything that moved because it couldn't see well. I wonder if that's what happened here.
