Looks like babies are popping out all over! Day 19 for my Broody girl. No peeps that I could hear. I'll listen again tomorrow. Waiting and not touching is so hard!

16 Blue Laced Red Wyandotte eggs moved to the hatcher

2 were questionable but I left them in!

Today is day 16 and I have removed 18 eggs at this point from the incubator. 7 were duds and 11 were quitters. That leaves me 23 as of now. That's just over 1/2 so if 1/2 of the 23 hatch healthy I'm going to be super excited! !! I have learned a ton from all of you in this thread. Next batch will go into the bator on May 29th, the day after chickenstock, so I can "cook" all my new breeds.

My rock that I helped out is not looking good at all. The yolk sac is still there, and so is the umbilical cord. I swish I wouldn't have helped it, but I think it would have been dead by morning if I didn't. Either way I don't think it is going to make it, and I don't want it to suffer.

It's always a tough call on when to help or not.

Its May and I am incubating... Guess I should join here too.

I just went into lockdown with my isabells, ayam cemani, barnyard mix and sizzles. 30 eggs and all were moving! Some looked awfully small for 18 plus days but we shall see. I'm a bit nervous about hatching them upright in cartons. Just seems more natural to be laying down. Oh well still had a few loose air cells so I don't want to rock the boat.

I think guineas are the worst!

No! I will have perfectly quiet, well behaved guineas.

My rock didn't make it, but at least it isn't suffering any longer. It just didn't seem strong from the beginning. It was pipped with no progress for a very long time. I think it was over 48 hours. So out of 18, I have 5 rocks and 6 beautiful blue silkies.

I also have more eggs hatching on Tuesday. (10 eggs) I set them on Apr. 19 at 9:30 pm, so I will lockdown on Saturday evening.

Just got myself a still air hovabator as a hatcher! Rushed the shipping so it gets here tomorrow. Now my quail eggs can move into a hatcher and I don't have to juggle all my eggs into one incubator, which is lovely, because my Cayugas got here and everyone fits perfectly with no air sack jenga going on. The muscovies, pekins, and 12 other ducks eggs, not to mention my mothers's quail eggs we're picking up tomorrow probably would have some difficulties all stacking in there.

Did you have to coop train them like the chickens? How far will they free range?

Guineas have to be trained to a coop for six weeks before they'll reliably come back. I locked my first bunch up in my new coop as I was building it. Then when I let them out they followed all the chickens right into the old coop and stayed in there Once I moved all the chickens to the new coop they moved back in there with them.

Then I lost all my originals except one, so I let my buff orp hatch some guinea eggs and since they were raised right in the coop by her, I didn't have to do any coop training.

As for free ranging, they mostly stick right with the chickens. They don't go far. They can fly though. Here's a shot of some of them up in a tree.
