May 2020 Hatch-A-Long

No idea. I swear when I watch, they stop hatching and wait till I go to bed or leave the house.

Swear my quail were worse than chickens and ducks.

By the way... My bantam Brahmas eggs are fertile :bun I'll be adding an egg a day until I have at least 12 in the bator.

I need to go to Hatchers anonymous.

You and me both!

I am gathering more eggs still from my East Indie pair to hatch. And now I am looking at chickens!!! I am not a chicken person but I am seriously considering hatching some for myself.

They're really good for eggs and meat 😁 best thing I've ever done was chickens, ducks, and soon quail once they're big enough.

Fluffy Butts! Individual pictures later, my photographer is still asleep.

Oh, I couldn't possibly pick a favorite with so much variety!😍

Well, as I expected the remaining 3 eggs from my hatch must've been late quitters - I turned off the incubator this morning, no progress to be seen. I'll bury them in my manure pile when I go do chores later.

So... The incubator is empty as soon as I clean it. And yes, I'm tempted to fire it right back up. Just trying to decide if I should just keep hatching my own eggs or bring some new blood in.

I've got seven goslings and one left, rocking the egg and cheeping. I left the first three in the bator too long, treating them like chicken chicks and one is, I think, splay-legged. They can't stand up in there. 🤦‍♀️ Soooo, into the brooder they go, as soon as they kick their way out of the eggshell.

I've never had newly-hatched goslings before. Are they perhaps a bit clumsier than ducklings? Mine sure seem to be.
