MAY Hatch-Along!!!! Let's do this!!!

I don't TOUCH the eggs in the first four days, they're pretty fragile at that stage and it's easier to see development after that period anyhow.

I did just manhandle insulted geese off their nests and I was right - nothing good under Guinness, but 9 like goose eggs under Beamish. So Guinny got housecleaning and responsibility for 4 of Bea's eggs.

Hi all,

Update on my hatch...................

I have 1 baby Mallard waddling around in the brooder and one hatching now. The temps weren't real steady in my bator during incubation so it may take a few days for any more to pip. 6 Red Sexlink eggs (from my hens), go into lockdown tomorrow and my Red Golden Pheasant eggs will go into lockdown in about 2 weeks. Got my Yellow Golden Pheasant eggs from pheasantfrenzie yesterday and put them in my bator after letting them sit for 12 hours.

Bought 7 Royal Palm and 2 Bourbon Red Turkey poults yesterday, still looking for more of any breed if anyone has any for a reasonable price.

Will post pics of my little Mallards when I get the chance, and can find my camera.

Good luck to all on hatching their new precious gifts from God.

Those are the eggs I am setting. They are supposed to be "assorted call duck eggs" that I bought on ebay from a seller who apparently owns a few hundred calls. They are kind of a funny blue-green-gray color and I am a little worried that I won't be able to see through them when I candle. I accidentally threw out an Ameracauna egg once because I thought it was a dud, but it wasn't

. I saw someone said on one of the other threads that some Call eggs can be bluish and/or greenish colored... All I know is that if a bunch of chicks hatch out it is going to be a wreck the likes of which that seller has never seen.
I doubt those are anything but call duck eggs. I have hatched black east indies bantam duck eggs and they looked like that.

Well, I am trying again, I just lost most of my April group last few days (see my post on "late incubator deaths). I did get 3 healthy babies, 2 runners and a Hookbill. I still have a few left in that Hovabator I am not sure of f or a couple days and one has movement.
So My second incubator has a staggered group of 2- 8 each. of Runners and Hookbills (from my Holderreads SQ birds). The first are due about the 2-3 of June,(if they are alive)I took them out of other incubator of the "lose" group 2 days ago and added 8 fresh eggs. I am raising humidity to 50+ and temp to 101 -102. And Only pencil marks this time. (I also have some eggs under my mini-ducks, JIC

I rescued an egg last week from being hit by a car, it apparently got kicked out of the nest which im now thinkin was an accident because its alive and well and started moving alot yesterday.when i got it it resembled day1 or day 2 so its about a week old. Im thinking its either one of our pekins, or some other type we have in our pond or the wild mallards. if its a mallard ill let it free to be cared for by the others if i can once it hatched. if not, ill raise it to adulthood then let it free into our pond. (; wish me luck! first time hatcher.

I'm kind of late to the party but I have 19 Muscovy eggs in the incubator and are due to hatch a week from today, the 27th. My ducks nest dump so the nests fill until one of the ducks claims the nest and starts sitting. This nest nobody claimed and they started laying in a new nest so I took the 25 eggs. After candling at day 10 6 were infertile and discarded.
