May Hatch Thread--Fill up those bators n' broodies!

Hi, I am new here, but been lurking around for a while. I am hatching my first ever eggs (shipped), they are bourbon red turkeys. One has hatched today, other 2 had tiny cracks this am (don't know if they are considered pips just yet), 4th one had no cracks this morning, but now, 5 hours later, I can see the 4th egg with with a dime size pip in it already and I can see the bird. However, it has stopped moving or peeping. How do I know if it is just resting or has died? Is this normal? Thank you and fingers crossed.

Be careful with those cheap incubators...you do get what you pay for. Good luck!!!

I just candled my shipped hedemora eggs that are on day 9. Luckily all the eggs that I marked as suspicious turns out to have moving and wiggling embryos inside. But seriously, those aircells...They're ALL OVER THE PLACE

And they're huge! Even though I've had the humidity alot higher than what I usually do because of staggered hatching... I'd say they're covering 1/3 of the egg already. They're hatching size. It could look like I'm gonna get some weak small chicks out of this - if they hatch at all...

Any experiences?

. Only advice is to increase humidity to stop internal evaporation as you know it's a fine line keep um wet and try to slow them air cells down ,,,,,,

Have not looked at the video yet.but want to encourage you to be patient..........Sometimes they rest for a period of time.
I know with chickens, it can be 24 hours before they hatch. .I had a hatch recently that I could see no movement and no sound even with a stethoscope.. They popped out day 23????????????????

Don't give up on the egg.........

Be careful with those cheap incubators...you do get what you pay for.  Good luck!!!

Lol no problemo polak not to many get the chicken king outta the screen name lol as far as styro bators go as new B said holds true but you can hatch in any of them with good success with a lot of patience and the right amount prep and research the options for styros are endless from 30 bucks to 200 it depends on budget and experience there are a ton of posts on each unit out there and guides that will help you succeed with what ever bator you decide to go with chooks chicks guide to dry hatching in a still air styro is top rate and has helped with a lot of good hatches with the $30 styro still air bators and Sally sunshines hatching 101 guide is also top notch for a more advanced forced air styro and the folks in this may hatchalong thread are a great bunch using all types of bators with good tips and advice that has led to good numbers and a few failures to learn from,, what ever you decide to go with after your first go around I'm sure you will be hooked and move right on into the hatchaholics gang we have all seem to become ,,, any hoot good luck and happy hatching !!
