Just candled my broody's eggs. 7 of the eight are doing great. Although, one of them has a crack in the top, but the chick is still alive. I don't know what I should do. Should I just put tape over it and leave it be? or should I take it and put it my hatcher so that I can assist if needed?
Okay, will do. The crack is on the top so I don't think it will affect it now, I'm just worried about when lock down comes.Do you have a candle..made of wax..or a crayon..gently push some wax on it..if the chick is alive, it will probably be ok with it closed up with the was for lock down. Tape usually doesn't stay on for lock down. Too moist.

My quail started laying four days ago. One everyday so far and they are just a lil over 6 weeks old. They are so darn cute but the eggs are cuter.lol.Nope, trust me, coturnix quail are mature and laying eggs at 6 weeks. They are egg laying machines. Only bird I have ever had that once in a while will lay two eggs in one day!
